Educação e luta pela terra em Miracema: a história do assentamento Universo

Abstract

This paper discussed agrarian reform and the struggle for land in Brazil and, specifically, in the state of Tocantins, analyzing the role played by education in this settlement formation process, reporting the challenges for education and the process of fighting for land, taking as a reference the history of Formation of the Universo Settlement, located in the municipality of Miracema do Tocantins. The aim of this study is to elucidate points about education and the struggle for land. We understand that education takes place in different spaces and that in the processes of struggle for land, especially those that bring about land reform settlements, formative experiences occur, causing people people to be educated in this process. We opted for a qualitative research, with support from authors in the field and a field research through the interview done with settlers, the residents of the Universo Settlement. The research shows that throughout the trajectory of the creation of the Universo settlement, learning processes came about and interconnected the knowledge of the people of the field. As it turns out, we were able to notice that it is not only in the school desks that one can learn.
