Abstract: | This monograph aims to understand the phenomenon of big tech, that is, big technology companies, in their relationship with the Brazilian state, especially in relation to the constant change in the media and news consumption via the internet, and the interference that has been observed since these changes. The interference of big tech in the Brazilian state is evidenced in this project through three specific cases: the first is the failure of the social network Telegram to comply with court rulings in 2022, the second due to lobbying by Google in 2023, when the vote on Bill 2630/2020 was put on the agenda, and the third in 2024 when billionaire Elon Musk, owner of the social network X (formerly Twitter) rebelled against court rulings by the Supreme Court, leading to the network being banned for approximately two months. The constant interference by the big techs led to an analysis of how freedom of expression is disseminated on the internet as a garment for hate speech and anti-democracy. Finally, it should be emphasised that the work has the following objectives: To identify the issues that delimit the relationship between Big Techs and the Brazilian state based on case studies, as well as to reflect on how new technologies have innovated legal relations and how the Brazilian state regulates the rights that have arisen from these innovations. |
