O Peso das obrigações domésticas na atuação profissional feminina

Abstract

The historical social construction of the female character has focused on the home for a long time which have limited her role to the private by environment. Over the time they have reached paid work world, however most of the household chores continue to be assigned to women. In Brazil, they dedicate themselves to housework for an average of twice as much time as men. Thus, this article sought to analyze the impacts of the unequal division of housework and care in the female professional field. For this, an applied, explanatory and empirical research was carried out to understand how gender inequality presents itself, in addition to bibliographical and documentary research through articles, books, reports and statistics on this subject, also using qualitative and quantitative approaches, as well as inductive and comparative methods. It was then concluded that the current sexual division of labor overwhelms girls and women, causing massive presence of women in partial, lower income jobs, their greater presence in higher education courses in the area of care, little female occupation in leadership positions and still low political representation, prevent women and girls from being free to develop themselves professionally.
