metadata.dc.description.resumo:	As festas religiosas populares mobilizam e resgatam lembranças e emoções e recriam algo que ficou na memória coletiva, se tornando ferramentas valiosas para guardar essa memória. Este artigo tem como objetivo analisar a dança da sucia, dos congos, das taieiras e dos tambores nas festas católicas enquanto reminiscências africanas no estado do Tocantins, mais especificamente, no território eclesiástico da Diocese de Porto Nacional. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de cunho bibliográfico que se estruturou a partir das aulas campo da disciplina de geografia cultural, no curso de geografia do campus de Porto Nacional/UFT, e se justifica por evidenciar a importância cultural da população negra no estado e que está presente nos eventos festivos e religiosos, valorizando a sua origem africana. Concluímos que, no estado do Tocantins, as memórias africanas não sofreram, de todo, um esquecimento, mas se perpetuam nas festas religiosas, num sincretismo que propicia outras pesquisas.
Abstract:	Popular religious festivals mobilize and rescue memories and emotions and recreate something that remained in the collective memory, becoming valuable tools to keep this memory. This article aims to analyze the dance of sucia, congos, taieiras and drums in Catholic festivals as African reminiscences in the state of Tocantins, more specifically, in the ecclesiastical territory of the Diocese of Porto Nacional. This is a bibliographic research that was structured from the field classes of the discipline of cultural geography, in the geography course of the Porto Nacional/UFT campus, and is justified by highlighting the cultural importance of the black population in the state and that it is present in festive and religious events, valuing its African origin. We conclude that, in the state of Tocantins, African memories have not been forgotten at all, but are perpetuated in religious festivals, in a syncretism that provides further research.
