Análise do transporte escolar no município de Arraias - Tocantins: desafios, impactos sociais e perspectivas de melhoria

Abstract

This work addresses the importance of public school transportation, especially in rural areas, in the context of education in Brazil, with emphasis on the municipality of Arraias - TO. It highlights how school transportation contributes to the civic and professional development of students, citing laws that guarantee this right, such as the Federal Constitution of 1988, the Law of Guidelines and Bases of National Education (LDB) of 1996 and the Statute of Children and Adolescents (ECA). This study not only addresses several communities in the municipality of Arraias-TO, but also focuses especially on three specific regions that were selected for a more in-depth analysis: Soledade, Ponta da Serra and Matão. These regions were chosen based on strategic criteria, given their significant relevance to the context of school transportation in the municipality. The main objective was to analyze the school transportation system in the municipality of Arraias-TO, identifying its main challenges, assessing the social impacts on students and their families, and proposing possible improvements that contribute to a more efficient, safe and accessible school transportation system. This was a qualitative approach, combining bibliographic and field research. This study included a comprehensive analysis involving parents of students from rural areas, teachers from the state school system, school bus drivers from Arraias-TO, and local authorities, with the aim of deepening the understanding of the impact of school bus transportation on the educational development of students in the region. Collecting reports from these different stakeholders provided a valuable experiential perspective, which significantly enriched the research, giving it greater relevance and authenticity.
