A temperatura média demonstrou interação significativa.
Abstract: The caudal axial atrial flap is widely used in dogs for the reconstruction of defects in the face and neck region. However, complications such as distal border necrosis have been described. Infrared thermography has been applied in veterinary medicine in several areas, including reconstructive surgery. The use of this resource in the planning of the procedures can contribute in the production of flaps with better results. The purpose of this study was to use thermography in the assessment of the cutaneous segment used in the preoperative caudal atrial axial flap reconstruction procedures. For this, 14 dogs were submitted to two treatments, one before and another after being submitted to general anesthesia. Each treatment consisted of two stages, the first being the registry without skin cooling use and the second after this process, which protocol is identical to pre-surgical asepsis. After cooling, images were recorded at zero, three, six and nine minutes, observing the physiological reheating of the skin. In the evaluation without use of cooling, it was observed that there was no visual difference in the images recorded before and after the general anesthesia. In the statistical analysis, it was observed that there was no difference in the treatments for the minimum temperature, mean temperature, standard deviation of temperature and coefficient of variation of temperature. On the other hand, the maximum temperature presented a difference, being 1.29 ° C higher in the animals before being submitted to general anesthesia. There was also a difference for the thermal amplitude. In the analysis where cutaneous cooling was performed, it was observed that there was a delay for the appearance of warmer areas in animals under anesthesia, which did not occur in animals without anesthesia. In the statistical analysis it was verified that in the minimum temperature the interaction between anesthesia and time after cooling did not present significance and there was an increasing linear effect of the time after the cooling. In the maximum temperature parameter, the interaction showed a significant difference, after cooling at three, six and nine minutes, with a greater variation in the animals not anesthetized. The thermal amplitude showed no significant effect on any of the analyzed factors. The mean temperature showed significant interaction. Immediately after the cooling at nine minutes there was no influence of the anesthesia on the average temperature, but in times three and six minutes the average temperature without anesthesia was higher than in the same times without anesthesia. With anesthesia the behavior of the mean temperature was linearly increasing, with the temperature progressively increasing as the time after cooling increased. In the variables standard deviation and coefficient of variation of the temperature no interaction occurred and the time influenced in an increasing linear fashion, while the anesthesia did not influence the mentioned parameters. It was verified that the use of the thermographic images captured before the surgical procedure can contribute in a fast and direct way in the identification of the donor regions for the creation of flaps of the caudal axial atrial pattern. The anesthesia did not influence the thermographic record of the donor area, so the images can be obtained before or after anesthesia. However, the asepsis-induced cooling changes the reheating pattern and may influence the interpretation of the obtained images.
