metadata.dc.description.resumo:	O presente ensaio versa sobre a formação institucional disponibilizada pela Academia de Polícia Civil aos policiais civis das carreiras de Delegado de Polícia, Escrivão e Agente de Polícia, do Estado do Tocantins, para a proteção e tutela do meio ambiente. Descreve os impactos suportados pelo meio ambiente, sua proteção pelo direito pátrio, perpassando pela base principiológica que norteia o direito ambiental. Delimita a atuação do Estado através da polícia judiciária na apuração de crimes ambientais, abalizando o arcabouço jurídico vigente aplicado pela força policial. Explora, através da análise documental e bibliográfica as ações formativas disponibilizadas aos servidores policiais no âmbito da Academia de Polícia do Estado do Tocantins e aporte institucional da União, através de malha curricular nacional e capacitação via ensino à distância. Examina os conteúdos componentes das malhas curriculares ofertadas aos agentes encarregados da aplicação da lei, e mensura a existência de ações com o propósito de habilitar o agente para a tutela do meio ambiente. Vislumbra a insuficiência de capacitação ao policiais civis para o desempenho de suas atividades no âmbito da proteção ambiental. Apresenta a necessidade de maiores investimentos em educação e capacitação policial e a importância da extensão das atividades universitárias para suprir a lacuna de formação.
Abstract:	This essay deals with the institutional training provided by the Civil Police Academy to the civil police officers in the office of Police Commissioner, Registrar and Constable in the State of Tocantins, for the protection and safeguard of the environment. It describes the impacts supported by the environment, its protection by the homeland law through the set of principles that guides environmental law. It delimits the action of the State through the judicial police in the investigation of environmental crimes, underlining the current legal framework applied by the police force. It explores, through the documentary and bibliographical analysis, the formative actions made available to the police officers in the scope of the Police Academy of the State of Tocantins and institutional contribution of the Union, through a national curriculum and through distance learning. It examines the component contents of the curricula offered to law enforcement agents, and measures the existence of actions with the purpose of enabling the agent to protect the environment. It is also show the lack of training for civilian police in the performance of their activities in the ambit of environmental protection. It presents the need for greater investments in police education and training and the importance of extending university activities to fill the training gap.
