Tematização da cultura em diários regionais: análise do Jornal do Tocantins e O Estado do Maranhão

Abstract

This paper presents, as a central intention, to analyze the Magazine´s editorial, from the Jornal do Tocantins and the Caderno Alternativo´s editorial, from the newspaper O Estado do Maranhão, as spaces for the dissemination of cultural journalism and the artistic manifestations of the cities where they are based, Palmas and São Luís, respectively. In order to accomplish this, it was sought to verify how culture is thematized in these printed matter in their daily publications, based on their particularities. To do so, we investigated the themes, territorial coverage, journalistic genres and fields in the periodicals for publication. For the research, it was opted for the content analysis proposed by Laurence Bardin (2011) as a methodological path. From this perspective, the following categories were highlighted: cover, theme, coverage, journalistic genres and publications spaces in newspapers. The corpus contains the data of the subject in question, published in the months of March, April and May 2017, which brought together the total of 157 editions of the printed matter. The results indicated that the publishers published, in greater number, the news of local scope, with subjects related to the cultural agenda of the cities where they are located. The disclosure refers mainly to the notes of events, exhibitions, weekend programming and social columnism, as well as film sections, soap operas, horoscopes and concerts. The data in both newspapers did not present any clash of ideas, with few occurrences of the dissemination of cultural values, that demonstrated processes of construction of an identity or representations of the city or the state. This leads us to conclude that the publications have little approach that emphasize expanded information on the artistic segment of those States to encourage the reader to reflect on the cultural contents.
