| Abstract: | This study investigates the foundations of the narrative that sustains the "myth of the woman who enjoys being beaten," analyzing the roots of patriarchy and its manifestation in the state of Tocantins, Brazil. The general objective is to understand the bases that structure this argument, while the specific objectives seek to reflect on the origin of the narrative, comprehend gender violence within the Brazilian social formation, and characterize the profile of victims in the context of Tocantins. Methodologically, the research is grounded in historical-dialectical materialism and adopts a qualitative-quantitative approach, utilizing bibliographic and documentary research, with data analysis from the Secretariat of Public Security of Tocantins (SSP-TO) between 2020 and 2026. The results demonstrate that patriarchy operates as an anatomical and physiological structure that adapts to different territories, using violence as a vital force to maintain dominance over the female body. In Tocantins, an upward trajectory of domestic violence cases was observed, totaling 74,000 records during the analyzed period, with a predominance of young, Brown (Parda), and economically vulnerable victims. It is concluded that a woman's permanence in cycles of violence does not stem from a rational choice or "liking," but from a structural condemnation fueled by a lack of autonomy and social isolation, evidencing that the myth serves as a strategy for dehumanization and the maintenance of the patriarchal order. |
