Crianças Autistas: Acolhimento e Aprendizagem no Centro Municipal de Educação (CMEI) Irma Lucília em Arraias-TO

Abstract

This study aimed to understand the reception and learning process of children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) enrolled at the Irmã Lucília Municipal Early Childhood Education Center (CMEI) in Arraias-TO. The research sought to visualize the ways in which teachers interact between students with ASD and their peers and also the importance of continuing education for teachers involved in the teaching process. We

chose a qualitative research, with field investigation through the application of semi- structured interviews with teachers from the institution who serve children with ASD.

From the results, it can be inferred that even with advances in legislation and awareness about ASD, there are still great difficulties in school inclusion and changes in teaching practices.͏͏ It is therefore concluded that the reception and learning of these children depends not only on adapted methodologies, but also͏on the participation of the school community and ongoing training with an inclusive pedagogical approach that considers the specificities of students with ASD
