Desenvolvimento econômico local integrado e sustentável do município de Babaçulândia

Abstract

Local economic development refers to strategies and actions that the government plans to (re)activate the local economy. Thus, the aim of this study is to describe the integrated local development of the municipality of Babaçulândia, highlighting factors that relatively drive its progress. The study also seeks to understand the proposals that the municipal management develops to promote local economic development factors. Through a qualitative method, using the types of descriptive and exploratory research. The results show that the municipal development scenario changed after the creation of the lake, as a result of the Estreito Hydroelectric Power Plant (UHE Estreito). This factor has driven local development, mainly due to the fact that it is a riverside municipality, with the Tocantins River and beaches that attract many tourists during beach seasons and beyond, and can be enjoyed permanently.
