dc.description.abstract	This study addresses garbage and its problems as a theme, taking into account human action for the emergence of environmental impacts. Thus, it was aimed to understand the relationship of unduly discarded garbage with the flood that occurred in the city of Arraias – TO, electring some points about the environment with residents residing near the Roma River that cuts through the city of Arraias. In reference, theoretical knowledge was sought with some authors to support the discussion on the topic in question as Fadini (2001), Lukazevitz (2010), Moreira (2005), Lima (1991), Parfitt (2002), Silva (2013) and Vieira (2006). This research followed the path of the qualitative approach, with bibliographic study, of exploratory character a case study, and had the collaboration of residents of Arraias-TO. In results, the environmental impacts caused by the accumulation of garbage, the possible causes of the flood that occurred in 2002 and the current situation of the river banks that cuts through the city of Arraias - TO.	pt_BR

dc.description.resumo	Este estudo aborda como tema o lixo e suas problemáticas, levando em consideração a ação humana para o surgimento dos impactos ambientais. Dessa forma objetivou-se compreender a relação do lixo descartado indevidamente com a enchente ocorrida na cidade de Arraias – TO, elencando alguns pontos sobre o meio ambiente com os moradores que residem próximos ao Rio Cigano que corta a cidade de Arraias. Em referencial, buscou-se conhecimentos teóricos com alguns autores para fundamentar a discussão sobre o tema em questão como Fadini (2001), Lukazevitz (2010), Moreira (2005), Lima (1991), Parfitt (2002), Silva (2013) e Vieira (2006). Essa pesquisa seguiu o caminho da abordagem qualitativa, com estudo bibliográfico, de caráter exploratório m um estudo de caso, e contou com a colaboração de moradores de Arraias-TO. Em resultados, os impactos ambientais causados pelo acumulo de lixo, as possíveis causas da enchente ocorrida em 2002 e a situação atual das margens do rio que corta a cidade de Arraias – TO.	pt_BR
