Serviço Social: um olhar para a docência

Abstract

The present work intends to present a study on Higher Education and Social Service, with the purpose of problematizing how the contradictions of the current system rebut in the social-occupational space of the Social Worker in higher education teaching? The objective is to reflect the teaching field as a socio-occupational space of the Social Worker and the implications on Higher Education, in order to highlight the historical path of education policy, understand the socio-occupational space of the Social Worker in teaching and discuss the importance of teaching in the graduation of Social Work. In order to reach the objectives proposed by the study, a bibliographic and documental research was carried out, having as methodological aspects a qualitative research, from a dialectical historical materialism approach. For the collection of documentary data, it searched for general information in the UFT's official website, in selection edicts and contests for teachers of higher education in undergraduate courses, in which the periods from 2017 to 2019 were analyzed. Developing an analysis of how the teacher's work space in higher education actually works, in which way vacancies at the Federal University of Tocantins are guaranteed and with emphasis on the Social Service course at the Miracema do Tocantins campus. The results of this study revealed the need to broaden the discussion on the rebates of the capitalist mode of production in higher education teaching. The data collected and analyzed showed how the reflexes of this system affect the category of Social Workers in the teaching context, as well as other professionals, revealing that in the scenarios of the Tocantins University campuses, the amount of selection processes for substitute professor appears in a predominant way instead of the competitions for effective professor, pointing to a strong predominance of the type of employment bond weakened according to the requirements imposed by the capitalist modes of production. The research concluded that teaching becomes a privileged socio-occupational space, because at the same time as facing the challenges imposed by the implications of the capitalist system regarding employment ties, the Social Worker Teacher has great possibilities to contribute to the legitimization of the Social Worker's professional make-up, with a view to fulfilling the Political Ethics of the Profession from the interface with teaching, research, and extension.
