Abstract: This work is the result of a research about the relation between the scenic groups and the public politics of culture in the state and counties spheres during the years 2013 to 2019. This profile was chosen because of the launch of the last public notice to support culture from the government of Tocantins State. The survey data were collected from the scenic groups, as well as the budgets stipulated by the annual budget laws of the State and the host cities and analyzed. The groups were selected for carrying out authorial works of scenic research, looking for this own aesthetics and expressions. Are They The Barraca – Cia Experimental de Artes, The Lamira Artes Cênicas, The Cia de Teatro UMPONTODOIS, The Agulhas Cenas, The Cia Cenaberta de Teatro, The Grupo Motirõ de Teatro, The Grupo Ciganu’s de Teatro e Dança and The Grupo Artpalco. The host cities are Palmas, Gurupi and Araguaína, the three largest in Tocantins. Although we have laws that enable the development of Tocantins culture, what we see is a weak institutionality, with virtually no political will to work on the theme, resulting in disregard for the performin arts and state culture in general.
