Cartografia social da Comunidade Quilombola Káagados: identidade e enfrentamento

Abstract

The present work deals with a research developed in the Federal University of Tocantins linked to the course of Degree in Field Education: codes and language. It is the result of the course completion work. In this study we dealt with the Social Cartography Project carried out in the Quilombola Káagados Community in the years 2016/2017 to study if the mapping and territorialization inserted the community into a cultural, social and economic policy, transforming the ways of being of the community. Hypothetically we thought that the social cartography project could have allowed the community to have greater visibility before the community itself, the local authorities and the situation of conflicts between local farmers, the acclaimed and the quilombola community. In addition to giving us the impression that the Project cartography may have contributed to the debates about strengthening the identity of the subjects involved. The social cartography of the quilombola community Káagados: identity and confrontation, began with the current state of knowledge of the area of social cartography, of geography, of mapping in dialogue with people, which will be carried out by a study that is based on in the methodological guidelines of Robert Stake to study, understand and find out the hypotheses listed by means of a case study analysis. We conclude from the study that the fact of the demarcation of the limits of the community and the mapping of the conflicts, although they still exist, decreased. We observed that through the social cartography project the members of the Káagados community presented themselves to the external community and were able to confirm by means of the maps that they have a territory, a proper way of being, a culture, a social organization that needs, imperatively, be respected We understand that the invasion, the neglect of the authorities and the excess of the police, when with weapons in fist, at the request of the farmers, enter the homes of the people of the community characterizing moral harassment, only accentuates the institutionalized racism and the impunity. It is hoped that the results of the study will inspire future research on the subject, on the difficult life of the members of the quilombola communities and territorial conflicts and that they contribute to more effectively and consciously evidencing the need for public policies that, in fact, , attend to the needs of these communities.
