Considering the growing number of productions that exist on the aspects that involve prison education, this research aims to analyze how the speeches of people in situations of deprivation of liberty are being presented in the academic works produced on the theme "Education in spaces of deprivation of liberty ". For that, the state of the art was analyzed to obtain the answers to our concerns: to identify if the subjects of this education are being heard in the process of knowledge production and to analyze how the voices of the people who experience the situation of imprisonment are being considered in the process of knowledge production. In this way, the present research presents quantitative and qualitative data referring to the number of academic productions made in the period from 1989 to 2016. The data were collected in the Bank of Thesis and Dissertations of CAPES through the platform Sucupira and analyzed using the technique of analysis of content of Laurence Bardin. The analyzes showed that the academic productions are concentrated in the South and Southeast regions of the country, with no works coming from the North. Of the 83 papers that discuss education in prisons, only 26 bring the voice of the prisoner to the debate, of which only eight focus exclusively on the voice of the prisoner. It was noticed that men and women are heard in similar proportions in the surveys and that the main topic of analysis is formal education, especially school education. In the in-depth analysis of the theses and dissertations, which deal exclusively with the voice of the arrested person, the presence of the narratives concerning the aspects related to the educational process and the experience in the area of deprivation of freedom became evident.pt_BR
