The main objective of this work is to understand how journalistic narratives on the sports sites Trivela and GloboEsporte.com have built the image of Suárez as hero and villain. For the investigation the World Cups of 2010 and 2014 served as the north to demonstrate the constitution of this stereotype. The study is anchored in the theoretical-documentary research on the foundations of the author Mieke Bal, who approaches the narratives by their similarities and differences and for the analysis of the news resorted to the work of professor Luiz Gonzaga Motta that also delves into the universe of narratives. Both authors go on to Narratology, which is a line of study that covers factual and fictional narratives seeking to understand how each element (character, conflict, plot and etc) is produced throughout history. In addressing what makes an athlete become a hero or villain (which is noted in the narratives throughout history), the authors Joseph Campbell, Vladimir Propp, Helal and Murad and Rangel were mentioned, both work with the perspective of idolatry and creation of narrative myths. It was observed that the communicative strategies, moral effect and construction of the characters throughout the plot defined Luisito as Uruguayan hero at the World Cup in 2010. However, in the year 2014 a divergence in communicative strategies reveals the positioning of the sites analyzed about Suárez's polemical bid. In constructing the image of the Uruguayan player Globosporte.com resorted to adjectives and interviews to show him as a covert villain who at the end of the saga receives psychological treatment, while Trivela builds his image as the false villain victim of the International Football Federation - considered by the sports site as the real villain of the plot. The common point of the analyzed sites is linked to the objective and subjective communicative strategies used to exalt the attitude of the player and later to criticize the bite of Suárez. These strategies are crucial for the journalist to position himself within the text subtly.pt_BR
